"Leagues” place a big emphasis on playing tennis rather than on lessons. Using progressive tennis equipment kids play games each week against other teams from our group. Near the end of the league- 8 weeks, there is an in-house festival and award ceremony. This system has been developed by Tennis Canada in a way to mirror many of the successful aspects of other sports leagues, such as soccer leagues.
First portion of each session is warming up and then working on a tennis skill (forehands, backhands, serves, footwork, etc)
The next portion is the league where kids are in teams and play points against other teams. At the end, the points are added to the teams running weekly total.
The last portion of each session is a group tennis game, such as "king of the court" or "smarties".
