This course will inspire your creativity and develop your understanding of the intricacies of watercolour painting. Special focus on compositional elements and techniques in the medium. Individual style is encouraged with lots of one-on-one instruction. Specific lessons will be discussed in the first session. All levels welcome. The program takes place in the Manor Park Community Centre.
Supplies required: #10 or #12 sized soft bulb brush for watercolour; medium-sized white palette; water jar; watercolour paper (3 sheets of 22x28) or watercolour block of paper (16x20); watercolour paints (suggested colours include gamboge, burnt sienna, raw sienna, alizarin crimson, scarlet lake, viridian, ultramarine blue and pthalo blue)
Instructor: Laurie Hemmings OWS Laurie has painted in watercolour for 35 years and has taught art to the local Ottawa community for 30 years. She is winner of President's-, Juror's-, and Public Choice-awards at juried exhibits with the Ottawa Watercolour Society and ArtEast. Laurie was represented by Galerie d'Art Nicholas Art Gallery from 1982 to 1997. Today she enjoys painting rural landscape and animal subject matter. Her next project is a study of canines that she hope to launch at a solo show in 2018, 'Year of the Dog'.
