Perrier Law is a boutique litigation law firm that specializes in administrative and professional regulatory law.  Situated in Toronto and incorporated in 2004, the focus of the practice has been, almost exclusively, in the area of administrative law with an emphasis on professional regulatory matters.  Neil J. Perrier is one of the country’s leading counsel in the area of professional regulatory law with extensive experience and expertise in all aspects of professional regulation.

For over 20 years, Neil Perrier has acted as legal counsel for regulatory bodies in Ontario as well as on behalf of individual professionals.  Mr. Perrier has provided legal services to four of Canada’s leading professional regulatory bodies namely, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.  Perrier Law also represents professional members subject to investigation or prosecution by their regulatory bodies including lawyers, doctors, physiotherapists, chiropractors, pharmacists, engineers and other professionals.

Mr. Perrier has appeared as counsel at hundreds of disciplinary proceedings, registration hearings and enforcement proceedings before tribunals and on judicial reviews and appeals before the courts.  It is that unique level of experience that has provided Mr. Perrier with sound insight and judgment into the many legal challenges and hurdles faced by professional regulatory bodies in the application of their regulatory framework and the regulation of their membership. Additionally, Mr. Perrier has acquired extensive experience in providing legal and strategic advice during the investigative and prosecutorial stages of a disciplinary proceeding, including advice on jurisdictional, substantive, procedural and evidentiary issues. 

Acting as counsel in both the prosecution and defence of professionals has provided Mr. Perrier with unique and extensive insight on a myriad of legal and statutory issues relevant to professional regulation as well as effective legal, procedural and evidentiary strategies in the conduct of regulatory hearings, judicial reviews and appeals.

Mr. Perrier has been invited to lecture at continuing legal education conferences, and at law and medical schools on a variety of issues including advocacy, professional ethics and other issues related to administrative and professional regulatory law.
